labs July 2023

Hepatic Function is Liver.
All liver labs are normal.
When I first started Kratom,
It was elevated.

C Reactive Protein was like 10
Then 5 now 3.
Before covid it wasn’t even 1.

This is the NMR.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
Two different magnetic fields
Perpendicular to each other.
Takes 4 or 5 days to test.

It like a Vertical Panel.
It tests for Fluffy LDL
Or Dense LDL Particles.

Mine are all nice and fluffy.
This tests for insulin resistance and
Insulin Sensitivity.
Mine was normal.

CBC
H and H is normal.
In the Hospital, it was 6 and 11
Now its 13 and 37.
Yay! No more anemia.

The ratios.
Always ideal.
The triglycerides were up a bit.
Still, 74. Here it says 60,
But thats just how they compute.
They make an educated guess.

Labs 4/23

As a Low Carb Nurse
I get labs every 6 months
And publish the findings.
Good or bad.

There’s more to LC than
Just weight loss.

Liver Enzymes suddenly out of range.
I stopped the daily Kratom
and will retest in 2 weeks.

The Ratios.
All ideal. They have NEVER
 been out of whack
Since starting Atkins.

CRP down from 15 and down from 50
When I had a cardiac reaction
To the vaccine.
Which I’m still glad I took.
This is the High Sensitivity CRP
C Reactive Protein test.

H and H  is up and has stayed up
Since my hospitalization and transfusions.
It was 6 and 11 at the lowest.
Three cheers for no ulcers
And no wine. 🍷
And no more COVID.

Bilirubin is fine.
No jaundice or liver symptoms.
Except I did have itchy legs.
Aka Pruritus.
We Nurses must use proper terminology.
Lol

HA1C is great. I’ve only
 had one high reading
since going on Atkins.
Early on, it was 5.9.

Eosinophils - one mark out of range.
Not worried. Could be not enough water.

Lipids? Well… I trust the new ideas
That LDL is not the bad guy we claim.
That’s why I publish all my labs.
For transparency. That LC is safe.

But why I cover my name
Since I’m technically going against
Standard Medical Advice.
Which the Nursing Board
Doesn’t like.

Dr Bernstein teaches Low Carb
For Type One Diabetes.
Type 1! So- kids!

Dr Robert C Atkins - of course-
The LC Guru
(To whom this blog is dedicated)
Who had to testify to Congress
That LC is safe.
He asked “Why am I being asked to testify
That heavy people don’t need pie?”

And Dr Tim Noakes
Who was taken to court
2 times for saying that
excessive carbs are bad for us.

The numbers are growing.
People are speaking out!

After 14 successful years,
I claim my bragging rights!
Yours truly
Former Fattie Anne H
Carb Tripper. 😎

I get my labs done very reasonably
At Own Your Labs.  I am not
An affiliate. Just a fan!
Full CBC is like $8.
Check it out here !

labs 2022

I like being transparent.
I’m very proud of my progress.

I like to be able to show
What a healthy (and sometimes sloppy)
Low Carb Lifestyle can look like.

My Pernicious Anemia shows up
From time to time.

The Money Shot.
HA1C 5.5.
My normal range is 5.2 to 5.6
With my highest reading 5.9
One time, since starting Atkins.

CRP C Reactive Protein
Is 4.21. Down from 7.29.
In the hospital, my CPR was 9.2.
If I did have COVID…
and a bad reaction to the vaccine…
Then it’s finally coming down.

Screenshot for a HOMA -IR calculation.
I’m often not showing up as
NON Insulin Resistance

I get my labs done 2 times a year.
I use “Own Your Labs” (link)
 because they’re a great company,
With great people.
And the price is right.
A CBC is like $7.
No I don’t work for them.
Not an affiliate.
Just a fan.

I felt tired - exhausted.
I couldn’t get enough sleep.
I couldn’t push the wheelchair
At work.
I’m starting to get to know
What feeling anemic is like.

So I got some Iron and
Multi Vitamin to take.
These labs are done after a few
days of feeling extremely low.

My stats:
Age 61
13 years LC
Abou 100 pounds weight lost
And kept off!

No a fib, no missed beats.
Good BP, good labs.

My Average Heart Rate Variability
Better every year

The Apple Watch lets me take
An EKG. A little high T wave?
Take less Potassium.

Good breathing.
Maybe some occasional sleep apnea
But nothing out of the norm.

I try to walk every day.
It’s hard since I have been
working so many hours.
I blame (or credit) COVID.
That’s changing soon!

I normally range from 155 to 160.
Sometimes lower. Sometimes higher.
Now, I’m 160 to 165 pounds.
I try to keep it between the lines.
Pull my sweet tooth and
Keep my hand out of the
Proverbial Cookie Jar.

Over the past 13 years
I’ve had a few small regains.
But not more than 15 pounds.
For just a few months.

I think I need more Iron and less work.
No more heartburn since I quit wine.
No more ulcers.
I’ve been making a slight effort
To fast and firm up -
Just in time for KetoCon.

It feels like a WW2 film.
Lots of blood and guts…
Plots and sub pots…
With a strong finish
That happily and miraculously
Ends up all good.

labs nov 17

Until I get my computer fixed,
This will have to do.

This is the first year my triglycerides
Are higher than the HDL.
The first labs I had in 2010,
My HDL was close to 150!
So it’s been up there.

All Vital Signs are great as well.
P Ox a bit low but
It was probably cold outside.
It’s normally 99 - 100%

I lost 20 pounds by Snake Juice Fasting
In about a month when these labs were obtained.

Here, below, I am posting my full labs.
This is a healthy LowCarb Profile
If I do say so myself!

I’m 57 years old and take no meds.
Except some Zantac now and then.
My weight is pretty consistent.
And my Blood Glucose is always in range.
Even when I don’t do LC!

And questions ? I’m here!
Let’s chat! Enjoy.

23 July 2016

all labs

Everyone is always asking about how healthy a Low Carb Diet is.
This is my 7th year on Low Carb.

I am 55 years old. Female.
BP = 110/68
Pulse = 72 regular

I tried to get labs every year.
The first labs (2010) were done at a company t
That didn't give me printed results yet.

I am not worried about the Total Cholesterol
Because the HDL is soon very high!

You can see my Metabolic Panels are very consistent.

This is a graph of my Cholesterol Profile.
Notice the generally downward direction!

So yes. Here's me - after going on Low Carb, then losing
AND keeping off over 80 pounds weight loss loss
Does Low Carb work? YES, IT DOES!
Is Low Carb Healthy? YES, IT IS!

Here's to 7 more years ...
And 7 more and 7 more (etc) after that!
