Trekkie is found!
Great news!

She was found abandoned
About a mile from my home.

The Police found her last week,
But because of the holiday weekend,
I just found out yesterday.

I hoped the “bad guys” had had
A change of heart.
I hoped they just pulled over and walked away.
It’s not worth jail time.

Apparently, that’s what they did.

I meet with the insurance adjuster today
To assess the damage.
Jake from State Farm-
Do your thing!

I’m having them haul the car to
Have them inspect it
Before I take possession.

I also want it detailed.
I don’t want any DNA
Or dog hair or drugs
Or anything else in that cute car.

Right now, I’m not sure if Trekkie
Is trashed- or unscathed.

We’ll see!
Yay for the Dallas Police
And yay for Trekkie!

neighborhood watch

Actual footage of me
Telling the police exactly what happened.

The city’s finest.

I actually love the Dallas PD
And feel glad they are near.
They all have “beats” in the neighborhood.
I love having a Dallas address
For this very reason.

So I went to the neighborhood
Home Owner slash Crime Watch Association,
And voted myself into a Board Position!
I want to take a more active part
In the neighborhood.
Since I’m going to be here a while.

Life is good when you don’t feel helpless.
Or hapless.

Still no word on Trekkie.
I hope she’s OK.

work a day

Cheesecake from Sugarless deLite
Everything in the store is 100% sugarfree

Hot summer days already

One good thing about the car being stolen.
I always take the garage door opener
Inside with me. Every night.
Think about how easy it would be
For some bad guys to
Gain access to the house!
So be safe.
And never leave your fob in the car.

Junk junk junk.

It all ends up here
In one form or another.

I’m pretty tired.
I need to sleep
But there’s so much to do.

Still managed to take a walk this morning.
And I’m on plan.
Still fasting. I’m a good faster.
But not always a good Snaker.
I love my herbal tea.
No gain. No loss.
Just steady. I like steady!

momma mia

Sashimi at Oishii’s in Oak Lawn.

I like it more every time I have it.
This is a Low Carb Deconstruction.
They should name it a KetoBowl.

Home for a spell.

A lovely assortment of salami and cheese
For a late night snack.

The lovely Ailsa made this for me.
I love my Low Carb Friends!

So the car is gone, I guess.
This odd collection of remnants from a dream.
Everything is temporary, I know.
It’s good to know when -
and how - to move on
without too much heartache and attachment.

27 May 2018

mother of exiles

If we don’t mean it, perhaps we should take it down.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

still no word again

Pete came over with Chinese take out.

We order different things
And put everything in the middle
So every one gets try something different.

That’s what makes going out FUN!

If you can’t make it fun,
Or just need to stuff your face,
You might as well stay home.

Soapstone cleans up nice!

My real alarm. lol.

So Dallas’ Finest.
Still no word on Trekkie.
The insurance company
Allotted 2 weeks.
Then we go to Plan B.

So we wait!

This is hard to see here.
But in bright sun, I can see
Several brown skin tags.
That’s usually from sugar.
My OMAD unrestricted phase probably.
Now let’s use fasting
To make them go away.

26 May 2018

still no word

The food at Ramadan is spectacular.
This is Spicy Goat, Spicy Chicken,
More Creamy Cucumber.
And of course Rice and Rota.

Rice Pudding with Cardamom.
Just about 2 ounces.
I didn’t bother taking my blood glucose.
I’m sure it would be high
Because of the stress and cortisol.

Midway through the day I already had
like 8,000 steps.
It was closer to 10K when I got home.
That’s the 2nd highest since I broke my leg.

Which was 3 years ago today.

So pretty. I was very calm
About Trekkie going missing.
Er ... Um... Being stolen.
I was able to focus and work.
Everyone else is freaking out.
But I’m calm.

Reenactment of me
Discovering my car was stolen.
It’s gone. Don’t lose your shit!
It’s already gone.
Stay calm and formulate a plan.

The little starter car they gave me
Is like “Bare Bones”
But I’m not complaining-
It’s just a stripped-down rental
With no real redeeming features.
Except it gets ya from
Point A .... to Point B.
Hyundai Sonata 101.

Never did find the Cat Folder.

The family gave me a pretty Hijab
To make up for the ones that were stolen.

I’ve decided to cancel my vacation
Since the Bad Guys have my
Trip Itinerary. Which was in a bag in my car.
I can’t imagine
Trying to enjoy a vacation
With this worry on my mind.
It would cause more stress to be gone.
I guess it just happens that way
From time to time.

Onward and ....
The spin. The economy. The fuck of it all.
And down a pound, actually.
So there’s that.

25 May 2018

grand theft auto

I was as cool as a proverbial cucumber
when I went to work this morning at 6:55
And this is what I saw.

Just gravel where my Trekkie had once been!
My beloved car has gone missing.
And since it can’t do that on its own,
I’m guessing it was stolen.

So of course I called the cops.
Without exception, people ask
“Did you call the cops?”
Well, yes. Yes, as a matter of fact I DID!
First thing. 911.
Dallas’ Finest.

They made me sign a document
That promised I was not a prostitute.
Or being blackmailed.
Or scamming. OK.
If you get caught lying about it,
There is a $2000 fine.
So my guess is what they won’t spend
More than $2000 of resources
and man hours - looking for a car.

The theft didn’t phase me until much later.
I got the rental car.
Talked to the neighbors.
No one saw or heard anything.

Still not a prostiute. I promise.
Not a Drug Dealer.

And this is true.
Made it to work in 3 hours.

The Bad Guys also took my Nursing Bag,
And my Gym Bag.
And my Snake Juice.
They stole my Snake Juice.
Who steals Snake Juice?
They also got my Crocks.
And my Hijabs.
Still waiting to see if they find her.

Stayed true....
Didn’t stress eat.
So there’s that.

24 May 2018

clean up days

My dinner companion had to change plans.

The Mighty Double Cheeseburger.
So I had this. And some wine.
And some coffee.

Salad is good. Had that as well.

Planning a Finger Food Feast this weekend!

Planning a Birthday Party for my Bestie!

Planning planning planning.

I’m so “casual” it’s a wonder
I ever got anything done. Ever.
In my whole life.

I’m not the “lazy” kind of casual.
I’m the kind that works without
Somehow having formed an attachment
To the outcome.

I never wanted anything to the point
I had to work at it. I loved working
Toward goals, like preparing a piece
For recital, as a young Music Major.
And I worked hard, many hours a day.
For months and years.

Or when I built (repaired) a house.
I loved the work, but I’m no Alpha.
So I never really made it
“Do or Die!”

 Like in Nursing School,
Which, by all accounts
Is never easy...
I never had to study or prepare at all.

It’s like starting a relationship
By playing it by ear and wondering
If marriage is out of the question.

Even starting Low Carb,
By being stranded in the
Grand Canyon, in a snowstorm,
and not having access to food....
It was a passive decision to start.
And not something that I researched
And decided to dedicate myself to.

Wow. I’m sitting here, writing this,
I’m stunned actually,
And never saw this pattern before in me.

Lots of people start school and never finish.
Or start diets and never stick with them.
Or hobbies. Or careers.
Or relationships.

Probably would explain why most people
Have closets full of junk and abandoned “toys”.

I personally think Americans have a
messy and haphazard lot in life.
So many things can go wrong.
And any little setback
Could derail absolutely everything.
So much is largely unregulated.
And there’s no safety net.
Kinda “Dog Eat Dog!”
Or “Buyer Beware!”

No real skills are taught,
Nor handed down, as they once were.
Things change so fast,
Moms can’t hand down skills anymore.
Can you teach someone
to have a strong work ethic?

I guess we take the tests and hope for the best.
Small wonder we are unhappy.

I have grown friends who can’t manage a household.
They have no idea how it runs
Or how to maintain it.
They just hope to keep up with repairs.
But they never see it coming.
Most repairs could be prevented,
But we are oblivious to the concept of
Preventive Maintenance.

I have grown friends who can’t budget finances.
Money just magically shows up
And leaves again
Just as mysteriously.

They pray, but mostly for miracles
That would remove the effects
Of whatever indulgence
They just allowed.

I entered a challenge (that I made)
And then turned around
And violated every aspect of it.

My ego is like a teenage boy
Who doesn’t want to mow the lawn,
And would rather sit inside
Playing video games
And eating ice cream.
Then bitch to mom
That I need my allowance.

If we had a grown child
who sat around smoking pot,
And slacking off, we would hate it.
But now, we’re middle-aged women
Sitting around drinking wine
And eating junk...
Which is just as mind-numbing.
Maybe worse.
We’re supposed to know better.
And do better.

Wow. What a breakthrough!
Now what the hell do I do
With this information!!

23 May 2018

pep in my step

Found a little pond to walk around.

It’s on a city park, so it’s paved.

I love my morning walks.

With all the hours I work plus fasting,
I’m so tired at the end of the day.
Sometimes walking will have to be enough.

Went ahead and ate.
Beef Broccoli Stir Fry.
And Hot and Sour Soup for tonight.

Even with a few bites of rice, this was me.
I need to understand that Hct.
I think I shall write to the company.

In other news, I don’t seem to
Need glasses any more!
I’ve worn them since grade school.
So.... many years.
On low carb, my vision
just got better and better -
I don’t even wear readers!
“At MY age!” Lol.
