fire and ice
(killing me softly)

Some say the world will end in fire.
Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great,
 And would suffice.

No need for alarm.

But no one tries to stop you when the weapons of choice
are a fork and a plate!

Dante's Prayer
Loreena McKinnett

  1. I wrote this months ago.
    Almost posted it weeks ago.
Just waiting for the right time.

  2. why is it people never said to me "you need to lose weight" but it's ok for them to say "OMG!! you better not lose any more weight!!" give me a freakin break!!! sorry soap box not included

  3. Oh, that is a giant spoon! For a second, I thought you were trying kareoke and no one was trying to stop you!! LOL

Your point is accurate - weapons of choice being a fork and plate.

  4. Great point:

But no one tries to stop you when the weapons of choice
are a fork and a plate!

  5. Very powerful, and true. And disturbing. And thought provoking.
And sad. I wish more people, all people, could see how "life and death" this really is... and not trivialize it or offer trite solutions.

You get it, and I appreciate this post.

  6. Roberta Flack "Killing me Softly"
    Robert Frost "Fire and Ice"

The Wiki link was a great read. And like the rings of Hell you know how to
make a point. I just love where you take me.

  7. So true.

Sometimes I just want to grab people by the shoulders and shake them and say "it doesn't have to be like this!" but, I am one to talk...

  8. Good one! There sure are a lot of over weight people who are dieing a slow and painful death for sure!

  9. Not only do friends not try to stop the fork and spoon shovel, they encourage get togethers centered around food and drink. Really tough having friends and being social and trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

"Put down the Spoon" Love it!

And yes Anne, Dante's Prayer. I missed that one earlier. It's a complete
    package now.

  11. Step away from the spoon and plate....no one will get hurt. Let's end this peacefully. :) Great post, Anne.

  12. Guess they don't try to stop you because they can't. We are all responsible for what we do...darn it, why can't someone do it for me? If it's going to be, it's up to me. Yeah, yeah. Maybe a quick wiring of the jaw shut would work better - lol.

  13. I read a book called Stop Digging Your Grave with a Fork and a Spoon, by Mike Huckabee. Very good book!

  14. Well said Anne. And Dante's Prayer-- gorgeous.
