All is quiet 

On New Year’s Day 

Mewing is like a trend now

But it’s just Facial Exercises 

To get a more defined jawline. 

The kids say they can’t talk

Or participate in class. 

With a hand help up like “stop” 

They say they’re too busy mewing 

To answer any questions.

IN CLASS. 

 

That’s exactly how my kids are 

in nursing and home health. 

I asked one of them to give back a toy,

Instead, he dropped trow,

(He pulled down his pants) 

Turned around and started twerking

And said “This is MY house

And you don’t tell me what to do!”

That’s why I think when

 Nurses and teachers get old, 

It’s the technology that changed-

But also the people we serve. 

I never dreamed I would be here,

No raise for 35 years 

No cost of living increase 

They’re phasing out LVNS

Like Trump is firing Generals. 

Why? 

What’s the larger picture? 

More money? 

More control? 

And what of this? 

Oklahoma’s high school students 

Must now choose a pathway 

For “success “ after graduation. 

But what about people who want to work 

At Walmart or waiting tables 

Or be a stay at home mom? 

No gradation? 

And this comes from the GOP

The party who once resented 

Government overreach! 

Gotta make sure we sleep well. 

This is an anticholinergic 

That made me feel 

Way too drowsy this morning. 

My actual hair. 

The roots are darker at brown. 

DEFINITELY time for a hair cut. 

Someone called this phase of growth 

The “modern peasant”

Which is kind of true. 

They’re not wrong. 

I want to keep track of 

absolutely everything this year

And get really disciplined with my money. 

2025 will bring many changes.
