labs summer 2014

My chronic dislike for table salt is showing up in low Na and Cl ! (lol)
And look at the iron..... no wonder I am tired all the time! (Gotta boost that up a bit)

But the HDL is over the top.....
The LDL is in line (I'll take it)
And if anyone wants to do the ratios I will take that, too!

Triglycerides - yep! Who needs fancy meds when the real offender is Fructose!
Yes - Fructose. They say now that Fructose makes Triglycerides!

And you know I eat red meat like all day, every day....
And all the bacon, eggs and cheese I can!

  1. The total cholesterol is higher because the HDL is so high!

  2. I am with you, Miss A. Had some nice cold bacon for snack this morning and having a nice steak for dinner! Wheeeee!

  3. …and ham slices with egg salad in them for lunch! Wheeeeee!

  4. My Total Cholesterol/HDL ratio is: 1.96 - (preferably under 5.0, ideally under 3.5) IDEAL!

My HDL/LDL ratio is: 1.189 - (preferably over 0.3, ideally over 0.4) IDEAL!

My triglycerides/HDL ratio is: 0.619 - (preferably under 4, ideally under 2) IDEAL!

  5. Congrats, nice numbers. Do they have a number to differentiate between LDL particles size? Small dense vs big, fluffy & harmless? Always nice to get the blood markers to verify that we know what we're doing. On salt, have you tried sea salt? I use Himalayan Pink sea salt. Also a lot of people use kosher salt but I don't have experience with that.
Keep fighting the good fight Anne!

  6. I did not do the VAP this time, but my VL DL is 14 – so I'll take it

  7. And yes – thanks! I am a raging fan of Celtic sea salt and Himalayan

  8. Wow, I have never seen HDL so high!! That's great :)

  9. But be careful - this LC diet is definitely not good for you! lol (Love that cartoon of the doctor you post every now and then.)

    1. lol - yep... AND the weight Iost and have kept off for 5 years now... at the tender age of *50 something*...
But of course - Atkins is BAD for ya!

  10. To be honest, although I am on statins as I have a stent, I would not be keen to take statins just because my Cholesterol was high i.e. >5.0.

I read a book by a Dr called 'The Great Cholesterol Con' by a Malcom Kendrick.

I would recommend it to get an alternative view of the danger of cholesterol

I would love to hear from you!
