jelly bean tolerance test

I started with a fasting AC reading of
82mg/dL Blood Glucose

I portioned out 70 small jelly beans

About 70 grams of glucose filled jelly beans
According to DIY Glucose Tolerance Test.
I ate them all in about 5 - 10 minutes.

The first reading was done at 30 minutes.
It jumped up to 114 mg/dL Blood Glucose.
No surprise there!

At the one hour mark, the reading came down
to 96 mg/dL BG

2 hour mark.
82 mg/dL BG

3 hour mark.
83 mg/dL BG.

This means that in my opinion,
Fasting has put my Type2 DM
Into a state of remission!

Before I started fasting -
Specifically Snake Juice Fasting-
My 2 hour PP readings were
Always over 140. Or more.

It’s all the Insulin Spikes that you get
from eating multiple times a day!
That’s what causes a high hA1C
Even though your AC readings are normal.

So thanks to Cole Robinson,
And Snake Juice Fasting
I am in remission - healed
From my sugar addiction AND
My high Blood Glucose readings
Even after years of LC.

Also I am no longer Morbidly Obese.
I credit Atkins and Low Carb
For taking me most of the way there.

But the final 20 pounds ...
That transition...
The switch from losing weight /ketosis
To burning BG Glucose...
And back again...
I believe for me
That is best accomplished by fasting.

That final 20 or 30 pounds was always the sticking point.
For so many low carb people.
And now we have the last piece of the puzzle.

I eat one meal a day now.
And I don’t snack during the day.
Don’t want more than one (albeit) large
Insulin Spike.

I stick to Low Carb because I know it is healthy.
Much healthier.
Just because I CAN now eat sugar and grain,
Certainly doesn’t mean I should.

It’s not a treat or an improvement to life
To eat sugar. And grain.
They both cause massive inflammation.
The kind of inflammation
where your heart beats hard in your chest -
and you drink so much water,
you flush away your electrolytes.
THAT kind of inflammation.

Going back to “treat” eating
After years of corrections
Would be like an alcoholic drinking again
After he (or she) got a liver transplant.
It’s never good to go back to the thing
 That almost ruined you.

Fasting and walking
Seem like a great combination!
See ya later.
Gotta hit the trail!

dinner with pete

I like cooking.
I like eating!
I like kitchen gadgets and recipes
And everything that goes along with the process.

This is Instant Pot 101

Italian Sausage with Chicken
And Cabbage.
So simple. So good!

The pay off is a great meal with friends.

Note the Sparkling Water.
Lol.

A little organizing.
It’s amazing how torn up a cabinet can get.
This probably needs to be done
A couple times a year.

Ye Olde Pantry as well.
Can’t hurt. Might help.

Maintenance.
Boring maintenance.
Like keeping the bird feeder filled.

And the plants watered and trimmed.

Everything counts.
It’s just so much work to play catch up!
As we all know all too well!

09 March 2018

well hi there

Howdy!
I’ve been super busy -
Just not Blogging.
But I love to blog.
It’s the only place that’s just mine.
So here we go!

This is me (and Elaine) in Boston.
We ate Lobster every day.
She said something like “Wow!
I don’t need to eat for about a week!”
And in that moment,
Fasting became a reality.
Extended Fasting. Intermittent Fasting.
Even some Dry Fasting.
Just most of us eat way too much food.

By the “weigh,”  I’ve lost and kept off
Those 20 pounds I gained during the time
I broke my leg. I now walk every day,
And am up to about 4000 steps a day
On my good days.

So yeah.
I do much better with what Atkins taught:
Here’s your plate.
Meat. Non starchy veggie. Salad.
Done.

Recipes are good, especially if you cook for a family.
Or wish to modify traditional, high carb meals.
But for me, I need to keep it simple.

And use my Instant Pot.
That’s a good recipe to follow.
Throw it in the pot. Lol.

Oh yes. And the Salad.
Don’t forget about the Salad!

During fasting TWICE now,
I became dehydrated.
Not good.

So I quit my beloved wine and coffee.
I found I don’t need it or want it,
except for special occasions.
The amount of water needed to process foods
Is just incredible! Oh my- what they don’t teach
In Nursing School! 😕

Fasting seems to bring a simpler approach to life.
Nothing to buy, prep, cook, or clean up after.
Spend that time doing something else.
Like walking. Or chilling by the fire.
Or blogging. Or meditating.
Or all of the above!

I’ve had bloodwork done (Excellent)
And a Cardiac Calcium Scan (Excellent)
And am on the books for a second DexaScan.
So I’m in great health.
9 years after starting LowCarb!

Yes. It has been that long!
What a wild 9 years it has been!

I also quit my job as a Home Health Nurse.
I now do Pediatric Hospice.
And Adult Hospice.

I went to do Wound Care on a Diabetic
And he was eating a bowl of Ice Cream.
Just sitting there. Shooting more Insulin.
And I realized that if I can’t even
Convince my best friends to try LC
And stick with it....
Well, the world isn’t ready to hear it.
I tried for 3 years.
And saved a few patient’s feet!
Besides. The charting is a nightmare!
And the co-workers are often not nice.

The final obstacle to blogging actually has a name.
This is Joseph. He likes to jump.
I can’t say for sure, BUT someone sat on my keyboard.
Squished it flat. I had to get all kinds of resets.
But by now, The Blogger App
Is all grown up, smarter, and more interactive.
Lol. And I guess you can say the same about me!
