that extra push

I never intended to stay on this diet for ever.
I think that would be freaking insane!

I do think, however, that sometimes a little
extra push is needed to shake up (no pun intended)
the body and get it go move in a different direction.
...............................
Take, for example -
People who run in the rain?
Some would call that crazy.
Others would thrive on it!

People who fast for Spiritual reasons?
Same thing.

People who walk across the country.
People who work on dissertations.
Book deadlines.
Recitals. Films. Art.
Races. Marathons.
Weight Loss For Life.
Really, any big project.

Raising kids, being a single mom
and going back to school. Now THAT's
hard AND crazy.

NCLEX. MCATS.
Army Basic Training.
Coming to America.

Getting Married. The wedding plans
are never the same as the actual marriage.
Sometimes, we go "all out!"

Even giving birth.
Not the most pleasant task, I'm told.
Might be painful. Might should avoid it!

People who try "fad diets"?
Modified Protein Sparing is not exactly a fad....
But, in the true sense of the word,
at least they are trying something!
It won't hurt too many of us to miss some meals.

I have lots of Nurse friends who do the Master Cleanse
every year in January. In fact, Whole Foods has a display
on an end cap dedicated to it! Very popular.

Not everything that seems extreme is bad.
Maybe if a person were blind to the effects,
and kept on doing something - regardless of the cost.
Maybe that would be "bad."

But that is how most people binge.
That is not how most people "correct."
Maybe it's the old equal and opposite reaction thing.

YouTube Video

I saw a video on a heavy guy running.
His nipples bled. No doubt had blisters, too.
And stinky, bloody shoes.  At that point, I would say
"Stop the insanity!" But he kept on, and I am sure
he is someone's hero! Maybe even his own.

When you start on a project, it is good to
know what tools you have. And how to use them.
Tools of the mind, as well!
(Sometimes, I think it's all Mind)

And not for vanity. But to challenge our ideas of what
is possible. What we are, who we are... all that jazz...
Break out of a commercialized comfort zone that was taught to us
since birth. Learn Frustration Tolerance. Change our  "Musts."
..................................................................
Love and Whey to everyone!
Unless you don't like Whey -
Then Peace!

  1. People just care a lot aboutcha :)
I might be worried if it was someone else, but I'm not. I know you are a smart woman and will listen to your body.

And by the way, I'm sure YOU are somebody's hero. In fact I KNOW you are!

  3. There are times in our lives when we need to push ourselves to reach the goal, to touch the sky or just go the distance. It's all good - and I know that you're going to do this the right and sensible way!

    Have a GREAT day!!

  5. It's your life and you are free to do with it whatever you please. To me, you owe no excuses or explanations. You are a smart lady with lots of experience. I trust you know what you are doing. If not, it's OK, too, sometimes we need to try different things in order to learn what doesn't work. Keep doing your thing, Anne. If you hear someone from the sidelines cheering you on, that'll be me :)

  7. Hang in there, Anne. I am a supporter of this plan. I don't think there is anything wrong with shaking things up now and then. Our bodies can get in a rut just like everything else can. Do what you gotta do and make no apologies for it. Hugs. :)

  10. I love when you expand on your brilliant one liners and write that little extra so I can truly grasp your motivation. Not that your goals haven't been crystal clear but sometimes hearing your rational of how you arrived at your plan is just the kind of spoon feeding I need.

So thank you love for taking the time and elaborating on the metaphysics behind your Whey :)

  11. I totally agree-sometimes the body needs a jolt to remember how to lose weight. And yes, all that stuff is crazy, short term fasting/very low cal dieting is not crazy. I just read another paper on it-people have the same maintenance after a very low cal diet or fast as if they did a longer term low cal diet, with no issues with the brain or blood sugar. Granted these peeps were monitored, but you are your own nursey monitor, so...do yo thang!

  12. Push & Shake, sounds like a great band name; perhaps a Cool & The Gang tribute band.

Push & Shake is an ingredient in a successful plan however. No plan, none, is perfect when embarked upon. Push & Shake it up often if success is desired.
