trigger happy

Avast there, ye Scurvy Dog Pinata!
Yep - the candy is already out!
Gotta get ready

Candy is dandy - Liquor is quicker -
I would mix the two with RedBull!

I'm just kidding, of course!
Aye - there'll be no grog for me, matey!

Temptation is everywhere -
a slippery slope of memories and mnemonics...
I am re-learning what these triggers mean,
why I have them,
and what to do about it NOW!
(Which is the only thing that really counts)
"What Cha Gonna Do About It?"
................................................

This is Miss J. She's a REAL "tree-hugger!"
Even her coffee mug says "tree hugger!"
She just about fits the whole picture.
From her hair to her Birkenstocks!

Her wholesome, organic, clean-eating food choices
are never an excuse for ever-eating.
(Even Dr Atkins said LoCarb is not an excuse for gorging yourself!)

Which is sorta like an excuse for not losing weight.
Not finding joy. Not being loved. Not loving.
It's never about the food - I'm convinced by now.
..............................................................
Maybe its about the reasons behind why being overweight "works."
Or why it did.
I imagine myself to be insulated behind a burka of adiposity.
Skin, and stories, and layers of clothes that no longer fit.
And I not only keep them, I worship them.

And ruminate over them.
OK. Time to work - clean something....
do something..... fix something.....
Not just as a way to interrupt the triggers,
But it's win-win....
My apartment is coming right along!
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
It's good my job lets me have so much time off....
Makes up for the crazy days and weeks of non-stop work.
It goes like that in Hospice... Nurses call it
"Feast or Famine" which is pretty accurate.
...........................................................................
Yo Ho -  International "Talk Like A Pirate Day" (link)
is fast approaching! Now that's something to partake of.
Or is it "in?"  Aye be gar!
'Tis a non-candy/food (pseudo) holiday at any rate.
September 19th. A Sunday this year.

  3. Hey my friend just told me she ran into Jay Leno the other day at Whole Foods. Said he must of just finished taping cuz he still had all the makeup on (heavy foundation). I asked her what he was buying but she didn't notice. She was just impressed with his kind demeanor and his willingness to talk to anyone who approached him. He even stopped to talk to the folks at the enterance of the store looking for someone to sign their petitions. I'm not sure if he signed their petition but he took the time to hear what they were there for. Then he got into an old classic of some kind and drove off. Even in the land of Hollywood people love their encounters with a celebrity. Especially one so big hearted as Jay.

  4. Ahoy, Matey! My husband fancies he is the descendent of a pirate, so we have pirate ..everything. Actually, we have a photo of his brother and niece with a ghostly shape in mist that looks like a pirate watching over them . Seriously.
And we, of course, celebrate talk like a pirate day. On plan for the day, will be grog and fish n chips if I can find a slightly lower carb / less calorie way of making them as we watch "Master and Commander".

Speaking of triggers, just walked quickly past the aisle at CVS pharmacy past the Halloween candies.

  5. I used the weight for so many years as an excuse to not participate in life, I am finding so much freedom in not having it as a reason, an excuse to not be present in the moment. Funny, it wasn't about food, it was about so many other things, so much freedom in letting all that crap go...

  10. "I imagine myself to be insulated behind a burka of adiposity."

Wow, what a visual... you have a way with words!

Halloween... candy time. I used to like the fact that I could load up my cart with my favorite candy, and pretend it was for "them". Yeah, right.

    Them thar days be gone!
