nibs and cinnamon

A box of Cacao Nibs
Scharffen Berger Cacao Nibs and link to recipes

They are kinda crunchy, kinda bitter-sweet,
very dark chocolate, nutty like.

You can mix them into just about anything.
Have you had them yet?
A bit pricey, but a real treat.

This is a cocoa bean
Looks big here, but it's really only...

About this big. About!

I mix Nibs with cream cheese and PB2.
And maybe some coconut flakes!
Or sweetener if it's a sweetener day
and not a challenge day!

This is daVinci Sugar Free Praline flavored syrup.
And oh, my goodness.

Nibs are like chocolate, because they are chocolate -
but not really likely to set off cravings.....
at least not for me!

And cinnamon.
Who knew there was so much to know about cinnamon?
Who ever gives it much thought at all?

There is cinnamon and then
there is cinnamon.
Did you know there is a difference?

A link to my other cinnamon post here!

Ceylon cinnamon is "true" cinnamon.
Regular every day cinnamon is not!

It wants to be, though and tries very hard
in it's own humble way.
The darker red on is regular cinnamon.
The lighter one is "true" cinnamon - Ceylon!

Behold, the cinnamon plant.
(ps. don't eat the plant)

Since we are either "striving or arriving"
at various states of being "Foodies,"
it's good to learn and share a little as we go!

Hope your day is warm and cozy.
With lots of happy thoughts and luv!

  3. I just read that about cinnamon yesterday. Isn't that interesting. Oh oh, cacao nibs sound like they are right up my alley. I do love the PB2 especially watered down a bit and lightly drizzled over banana slices.

  5. I just placed an order for a several different types of cinnamon from Penzey's spices last week - there will be a taste test, for sure, when the package arrives!

I've always wanted to try the cacao nibs. Wonder how they'd be in Greek yogurt?

  6. They are not sweet AT ALL!
    Maybe a little bittersweet!
But probably very good in Greek Yogurt!
I keep my Nibs in the freezer
cuz I don't use them very often!

  16. SO YOU DROP A NAME LIKE PENZYS CLAIMING YOU WILL BE TESTING A BUNCH OF CINNAMON. S0 WE NEVER HEARD FROM YOU AGAIN. WHY NOT TELL US HOW THE TESTING WENT. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE BENEFICIAL THAN JUST NAME DROPPING.
