beauty shop
'till ya drop

Welcome to the Chateau de Chatte!

I got my first victim volunteer for hair coloring this weekend!
How and why this happened, I'll never know.
I didn't ask her - she asked me. So I said "Yes!"
What's the worst thing that can happen?

Like a kitchen disaster, or a binge on a diet,
the worst thing that can happen is that
IF we mess up,
THEN we fix it!
And LEARN what went wrong,
to keep it from happening again and again.

It's cool that she trusts me with her hair!

This is Ali before, during and after.

We went with real subtle highlights and lowlights.
And blue, ash, and gold tones.
And a huge amount of Hydrogen Peroxide.
But only 20% cuz she's a Newbie.
She tends toward red, so I avoided the violets and neutrals.

It's not only time in a bottle -
It's science!

I had more fun than she did!
And it was a total success. She loved it!
No hair fell out. And she is still talking to me.
So it's all good.

Oh say, can you see my eyes?
If you can then my hair is too short!

I might have mentioned that I was raised by hippies.
My sister is a 70 year old aging hippie.
My Mother would have been 90 this year.
Something about the world of hair
is very healing for me.
Like that bicycle. Very healing.
Thank you for reading!

saturday evening post

Saturday morning coffee, with Miss B and Poochi-Woochi

The dog "wanted" coffee - so she gave it to her!
I tried to give her water - but nooooo!

Is it hot enough for ya?

Can ya hear me now?

Driven by the Invisible Man

Felt advent-turrus today. Bold, even.
So I put color all over my hair.
Right from the tube. Three different tubes.
And 40% (that's right) Hydrogen Peroxide.
The worse that can happen is my hair falls out.
At least it's cooler that way.
And my patients won't mind!

I'm not invested in the outcome.
So I can do the deed, un-detached!

Lookit how fast it grows, eh?

If I can do complicated Nursing procedures,
Surely I can do this. So I tried! Yay!
I was really looking forward to it.
Besides, I'm kinda into this "beauty" stuff.
I even have a Sally's card.

Could have done without these. I'm in a "getting to know myself" phase.
Trying new things. Within limits. No bad habits back.

Tried anything new lately?

bad hair day

Unaccustomed as I am
to "fancy" things,
like make up, and hair spray,
I thought I would expand my repertoire
and get my hair "done."

I am finding that I have an extremely low tolerance for change.
Especially when it is just a little out of my comfort zone.
Or new. Or potentially controversial.
I feel almost "disabled" in a way, at times.
This vague - and outright anxiety..... beyond shyness.
This agoraphobic -like resistance to change...
Yet all the while craving it with all my heart....

Knee-jerk reactions: I can't say why but the answer is "no."
Too much change in one year?
Self-sabotage? Displacement? Transference?
Defense? Coping? Eff it all.
..................................................
I would never fault anyone for the choices they make
when they are under the spell of this doubt and angst.
So I went back to my "roots" - so to speak.
It's not just my hair that is over-processed!
It feels like failure....but it isn't.
It's part of a new learning curve - I know.
...........................
My blog has been all over the place lately eh?
*sigh*
Who knew weight-loss could be such a ride.
Blame it on the full moon?

Looking at last night's full moon!
.........................................
This just in:
I was born blonde and grew up "jet blonde"
until I went to college - where I turned brown headed.
And brown~ish I remained until the last few years.
First grade in my Parochial School uniform.
So long ago, they only had sepia tones! (lol)

thin redline

Take some grape tomatos, onion, garlic, olive oil
Toronto Seasoning and Balsamic vinegar...
Put it all in a pan, in the oven @ 350 for 30 min...+/-
Hamburger patty w/sf bbq sauce
Coffee w/ raspberry and chocolate sf syrup
and whipping cream (low carb!)
RedLine instead of Monster today...
Wow! That is strong!
Oh yes, and I got my hair "done."

Errands, cleaning, shopping, styling yesterday.
Getting over last week, getting ready for next week.
Settling in with the changes.
Stretching more than working out today.
That RedLine puts a burn and a freeze on.
From the inside!

This just in:
Or *not* grape tomatoes, in this case.
Thanks Alexia!
