15 December 2011

today I ate this

Feel pretty small today.
Pretty tired, with a pretty good headache, too.
I hate to mention feeling less than stellar,
because some one inevitably says
"It's the carbs!"
And I would hate to have to fight someone today.
I'm just not up to it!
Winking smile

Might just go on back to bed early.
Just for grins, I weighed at Cross Fit...
And yes  - I went, even thought I felt tired.
My weight is the same. Exactly.
Punch
But I have lost 2 pounds of muscle.
And gained 2 pounds of fat.
And I am not pleased.

Had mostly protein shakes today...
3 today and some squash I made last night.
Roasted in a cast iron dutch oven
and dusted with garam masala.

On days when I have a moderate amount of carbs,
I don't have any added fat... just what occurs
naturally in heavy whipping cream.
I might switch out to half and half...
I need a few more carbs and could use less fat.
We'll see!

Less than half a cup of acorn squash.
 100 grams is two spoons-full.
The top chart shows 30 total carbs.
It would probably be 20 or so net.
I still weigh the food and look it up!
Don't want any surprises.

Hope your day is great!

send me a sign

...not to be confused with....

Actual radar a few days ago
Dat's Good !
Maybe they need a little break?
If they are so haggard....just sayin'.....
 Jeans Sale - Half Off!

This week's topic is always Love....

.............................................................................
Monster w/ protein x2
Water, coffee, Atkins bar
How 'bout we skip the meal tonight, eh?
Too tired too cook or prepare it.
..................................................................................
Stepped on a scale "for grins" at work today.
It said 230 pounds!
I threw a couple of pvc's.....a little chest pain....cold sweat....
A different scale (in the same room) measured 140 pounds,
fully dressed, shoes and all. And this was late in the day!
What an odd reaction I had to something I know very well to be wrong!

.....................................................................................................................................................................
This just in: had a couple of scrambled eggs
w/ chipotle sauce....and a cup of coffee....
AND it's cool outside and raining. Sweet!
Perked up like the quintessential daisy!
And this just in: woke up, rested, ready-to-go...
only to find that it is 1 am!
Went to bed early - when the sky looked like this - after a gentle Spring rain!

Hope your week is a great one...Thanks for sharing mine with me!

peanuts envy

don't envy me, join me!

Peanuts, (that's a link to Wikipedia!) and peanut butter are like the perfect snack foods. Acceptable for low carb diets, after induction. Even WW likes them! WoW!

Unless you have an allergy (obviously) peanuts are good for you. And filling. I eat some in the morning with my vitamins. And I'm not hungry again till way later.

You can buy peanuts almost anywhere, and they are easy to carry with you. They are cheap enough. They don't need refrigeration, or heating. A perfect snack?

And although they have SOME carbs, they also have MUCH fiber. It depends on who you ask, because each label is a little different. But mostly this: 5 carbs, 2 fiber. And 7 protein! Fats, yes; but that's why they are so filling.

They have Co Q10. Potassium. Resveratrol. And anti-oxidants. Peanuts are just good for ya!
I am careful to measure out the serving size. One ounce is about 30 - 35 nuts, depending on the size.
Turns out size DOES matter!

scales of justice

who is blind, by the way

I measure foods and weigh them, because my mind's eye has NO IDEA what a "portion" should be. I tell myself and I really believe that I only ate "just a little," and behold! It wasn't "just a little!"

On the other hand, 3 ounces of something isn't very much. Or 3.451 ounces.

Curious how it all adds up. Especially when compared to the "super-sized" meals I was used to. VALUE MEALS? What value? At the end of the day, there was not much there to value.

Even with Atkins, or pseudo Atkins, it's still important to be aware of things like portions and calories, and sodium content. What's the use of having a "metabolic advantage" if it's not an advantage to you, on a personal level?

I look at what other people post, and I am amazed at how little they eat. One egg...one bite....one little smidgen of this or that. And right next to it, they post how much weight they dropped this week alone. Also, these insightful people tend to work out every day, even when they would MUCH rather say "I would prefer not to!"

Although they don't say it, I wonder how many people walk around a little hungry sometimes? Or a lot hungry, a lot of the time?
