a S.A.D. story



The Standard American Diet....
Pre-weight loss/ non-binge:
McDonalds, cokes, donuts, candy, candy bars,
pizza, breadsticks, booze, etc.
Note the Omega 666!
About 66 grams! That's alot!
PUFA - Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids...
Where the Omega 3 and 6's come from.
The only true Essential Fatty Acids!

Now comes the Standard LoCarb diet.
The one like I did for the first 2 years.
And lost a tone of weight with!
6 strips of bacon, 6 eggs, blocks of cheddar cheese,
walnuts, peanut butter, avocado, mayo, grain-free,
ground beef, sour cream, heavy whipping cream, sweeteners. 
BUT - look at the pufa's.... 66!!
The ratio is better - yes...
But with these numbers, the ratio is kinda moot point.
10% total pufa average - on my previous low-carb diet.
There was a time - I would brag about this.
No more!

Now compare that to a LoCarb, low pufa diet!
The one I am trying here for 100 days, or 2 years...
which ever comes first! 
It takes at least 2 years for pufa's to leave your body!
so my original experiment of 100 days - might be a little short sighted!

My diet now would include salmon most days, 
ground beef some days, grass-fed when possible...
no veggie oils, some butter, again - grass-fed when possible,
some coconut oil, some tallow,
no heavy Omega 6's, low fructose,
low dairy, gluten-free, legume free,
occasional starch, minimal sweeteners....
As much like Paleo/Primal as I dare to call myself!


Eat as much Real Food as possible....no - wait....
Let me put that another way!
As much as possible - Eat Real Food!

all you can eat


I'm not a Fattie like you might be a Fattie.
I was a Bad-Ass Fattie!

These are my numbers from before.....
When I was really just a human eating machine.
Just for fun, I did the numbers on some of my old foods.

Breakfast: sausage bagel with hash browns.
Drink: 2 liters Coke every day (never missed this)
Snack: candy bar - king sized
Stop at the donut store...
Eat a couple on the way home - in the truck
Lunch: Big Mac, fries, starbucks
Snack: ice cream sundae
with ALL the fixings!
Dinner: Pizza maybe, salad, bread sticks, wings
and oh that lovely dipping sauce!
Or maybe a Lean Cuisine - you know -
Something "healthy!"
Desert: pie or cake of left over donuts
HEY !! Who drank all the coke?
Snack: spoons full of peanut butter 
Little more ice cream...
Better get that zantac and prilosec out!
Where's my tums?

Throw in a couple of playful binges - 
Not the HUGE binge, mind you - but the everyday binge:
You know - just an extra donut, 
A hand full of peppermint candies,
A pack of gum (it goes sooo fast)
Where's that other candy bar I got today?
I wanted to melt some in this mocha latte!
Maybe some chocolate milk, (We need milk, right?)
And an extra Macchiato Latte Huge with
all the bells and whistles...
Can I get a puff pastry with that?
I don't really need it, but since I'm here....
They are SOOOOO good!

Then the guy at the Drive Thru says "Enjoy your food!"
"Don't worry, smart ass," I'm thinking. "I will! Thanks!"
See ya tomorrow!

So there you have it.
The SAD - Standard American Diet.
A day in the so-called life.
Yum, right?
